Zova Privacy Policy

Zova helps people discover nearby events, venues, and plans. This policy explains what information Zova may use to provide recommendations, improve quality, and keep the app reliable.

Information Zova May Use

Location

Zova may use your approximate or precise location while you are using the app to show nearby recommendations, venue distances, map results, and plan context.

Zova does not request or use background location access. If location permission is denied, unavailable, or later revoked in your device settings, Zova may use a default area instead.

Mood and preferences

Zova may use information you provide in the app, such as your mood, preferred types of plans, budget, distance, timing, saved events, skipped events, beta feedback messages, and other recommendation preferences. Zova uses this information to rank recommendations, avoid repeated suggestions, understand product quality, and make plans more relevant.

Saved plan data

Zova may store saved events, skipped events, plan order, and related plan activity so the app can show your current plan and remember your choices. Some of this information may be stored on your device. If backend sync, account features, or server-backed recommendations are enabled, related plan data may also be sent to Zova's backend API.

Backend API

Zova may send request information to its backend API to fetch, combine, rank, and quality-check recommendations. This may include location coordinates or a selected area, mood and preference inputs, saved or skipped event identifiers, app interaction context, and basic app or device information needed to operate and debug the service.

Event Sources and Third-Party Services

Zova may use third-party event, venue, map, weather, music, link, or similar sources to provide recommendations and context. These services may receive the information needed to return results, such as location coordinates or area, venue names, event names, event links, and search or recommendation context.

Event details, availability, prices, times, venue information, and booking links come from third-party sources and may change. Zova does not control those sources.

AI-written captions

Some event cards show a short caption written by an AI model. To write it, Zova sends that event’s public details — its title, venue, time, price, and roughly how far it is from you — together with a short summary of the moods, filters, and preferences you use in the app, and a list of the kinds of events you tend to save or skip.

Zova does not send your name, your email address, an account or device identifier, or your precise location. Distance is sent as an approximate number of miles, such as “0.4 mi”. Zova does not send the detailed preference weightings it keeps on your device.

Zova’s AI provider for these captions is Anthropic. They process this information to write the caption and return it to Zova.

Which events Zova shows you, and the order it shows them in, are decided by Zova’s own scoring rules, not by an AI model. Your night plan is put together the same way.

What “learning” means

Zova adjusts what it shows you based on the events you save and skip and the preferences you use in the app. Zova uses these signals to personalize your experience, but the detailed preference weightings are not sent to the AI caption provider or used by Zova to train an AI model.

Analytics, Quality Telemetry, and Diagnostics

Zova may collect limited analytics, beta feedback, and quality telemetry to understand whether recommendations and app features are working. This may include app interactions such as viewing a recommendation, saving or skipping an event, opening details, tapping an external link, submitting feedback, or encountering a loading or quality issue.

Zova may use Sentry or similar diagnostic tools to understand crashes and production errors. Diagnostic reports may include technical details such as device type, operating system version, app version, screen or feature names, error messages, and recent diagnostic breadcrumbs. Zova configures diagnostics not to intentionally include personal information, but error context can sometimes include request or app state details needed to debug a problem.

Bookings and External Links

Zova may show links to third-party sites for event details, tickets, reservations, venue pages, maps, or related actions. Zova does not make autonomous bookings, buy tickets, create reservations, or complete purchases for you. Any booking, ticket purchase, reservation, account creation, or payment happens outside Zova with the third-party service you choose to use.

Your Choices

You can deny or revoke location permission in your device settings. You can also change your in-app preferences by updating your choices in Zova.

If data is stored only on your device, deleting the app may remove that local data from the device. If Zova has backend-stored data associated with you, you can request deletion by emailing support@getzova.app.
